Records

Central Records primary responsibility is to maintain various types of reports generated by departmental personnel. The public is granted access to records allowed by Public Records Law. The access includes local Background Checks, Traffic Crash Reports, Offense Reports, and information on Calls for Service (CAD).

NOTICE OF CUSTODIAN OF PUBLIC RECORDS

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Custodian of Public Records is Cherrie McAbee, Director of Central Records Division. Requests for public records must be submitted to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Central Records Division through our Public Record Request Portal or directed to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

NOT WARRANTY NOTE: The Agency will not accept for return any products you purchased outside the agency’s domain of the GovQA venue. In order to properly process a refund or exchange, Distributors must follow the steps and conditions set forth below:

All returns to our agency must be accompanied by the following:
a) 
a signed statement from the retail customer identifying the rea­son for the return;
b)
a copy of the original GOVQA invoice; and
c)
the name, address, telephone number, and customer account identification of the retail customer
d)
Agency will prepay the cost of shipping the replacement product(s) if applicable.
WARRANTY
Except as expressly stated herein, the Agency makes no warranty or representation as to the merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, workmanship or any other warranty concerning any product or service purchased from or through the Agency.

*There is a $.15 per page copy charge. If you are a victim of a crime or party involved in a crash, include a copy of your government issued ID to have any fee waived. The report can be picked up at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters or payment can be mailed along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Victims or parties involved in a crash who utilize the Online Request option, will have the report available for download.

**It should be noted that per Florida State Statute, Crash Reports are exempt from public disclosure for the first 60 days after a crash; however, drivers involved in the crash and their legal representatives can request the report as soon as it becomes available.

Background Check

To request a local Background Check: Provide the name, date of birth, race and sex for the person in question. A required fee of $5.00 must be provided in cash, money order or business check – No personal checks will be accepted CLICK HERE to request a local background check
